# Superstables CLI

The Superstables CLI is the `superstables` command in the npm package `@superstables/client`. It finds services that charge per request, quotes what a call costs, and pays with test tokens from a wallet the owner controls. **Testnet only.**

The owner approves in their own wallet. With a [budget](https://staging.superstables.com/docs/client/budget.md), the owner grants an on-chain budget once and the agent then buys within it. With a [single purchase](https://staging.superstables.com/docs/client/buy-once.md), the owner approves each purchase. An agent can't pay on its own outside a budget.

## Install

You need Node 22 or newer, on Linux or macOS. On Windows, use WSL. Install `@superstables/client` from npm; the [install guide](https://staging.superstables.com/docs/client.md) has the exact command. Then check it:

```bash
superstables --version
superstables --help
```

## Main commands

| Command | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `superstables setup` | For `pay`: creates the home directory and the policy file, then says what to do next. |
| `superstables find` | Searches for services that charge per request, and says how each could be paid. |
| `superstables quote` | Asks a paid endpoint what one call costs. Nothing is paid or signed. |
| `superstables pay` | Asks the owner to approve a quote in their wallet, and pays it if they do. |
| `superstables status` | Shows where a payment attempt got to, and what to do next. |
| `superstables receipts` | Lists the payments made from this machine, newest first. |
| `superstables budget` | Sets up, grants, uses and revokes a budget. |
